Dinner + Rock Band + AMAZING Dessert!!

So, once a month the GFI (some of us girls that use to work together) girls and our families get together for dinner. Its always nice to be able to hang out and stay in touch. This month, after dinner we decided to bust out Rock Band 2! It was so much fun and so addicting. I love playing the guitar and Ashley went all out on the mic! It was fun seeing our husbands rock out. One of our friends made the most AMAZING dessert ever! You have to try it...you will love it! I am not sure what they are called...so I will call it....

Yummy Cream Cheese Bars
2 pkg. crescent rolls (8 count)
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 stick butter(you can use less)
1/2 c. sugar
2 Tlbs. cinnamon

Pat 1 package crescent rolls into a lightly greased 9 x 13 pan; pinch seams. Beat cream cheese, vanilla, and sugar until smooth. Spread on top. Lay out second package of crescent rolls on wax paper. Pinch seams and press to fit pan. Place on top of cream cheese mixture. Melt butter and pour over top. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon (mixed together) over this. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 min. You will want the crust brown. Drizzle the syrup on top and serve with ice cream.

Praline Syrup
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter
2 Tlbs. light syrup
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all the ingredients, except for the vanilla, in a large pan. Bring to a boil. Boil on low for 7 min. and stir consistently. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
*This is great syrup for pancakes/waffles. You can freeze it in tupperware.
ENJOY!

Recent Chick Flick REVIEWS!! GNO worthy?

When it’s time for a little bit of fun and relaxation, Becky and I plan our monthly GNO (girl’s night out) where we leave the kids with their Daddy's and we do some shopping, have a snack at Dairy Queen (there’s no better ice cream out there) and we see the latest chick flick to hit the big screens. This is a monthly ritual that we think every girl needs!
Here is a list of the most recent Girl Movies we’ve seen in chronological order, and of course our thoughts on each one. We'll use a rating system of GNO points, 5 is the best!

Mamma Mia!
Ashley’s Review: 4 out of 5 GNO Points A bundle of fun! Makes you want to move to the music!
Becky’s Review: 4 out of 5-I wanted to sign and dance during the entire movie, maybe because the entire movie was singing and dancing! I left with a smile and wanting to sing at the top of my lungs.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
Ashley’s Review: 5 out of 5 GNO Points So cute! You have to watch the first one to follow the story on the second one. Love it!
Becky’s Review:B 4 out of 5-This was a fun one...just as cute as the first one.

High school Musical 3
Ashley’s Review: 4 out of 5 GNO Points We saw this one as a last minute, last resort kind of thing, but both of us were pleasantly surprised! The music and choreography were fantastic!
Becky’s Review: 3 out of 5-love the singing but a little too cheesy for me:)

The Women
Ashley’s review: 2 out of 5 GNO Points-The cast and music scream CHICK FLICK! And the fact that there is NOT ONE SINGLE MAN in the whole movie – VERY COOL! OR SO YOU’D THINK! The storyline did not hold up to the hype. Some of the characters were a tad bit controversial for our taste, but all in all, and okay flick. Don’t spend more than a dollar or two renting it. J
Becky’s Review: 0 out of 5-I like movies with guys in it!

Twilight
Ashley’s review: 4 out of 5 GNO Points-Can we say EYE CANDY? We had to see this one twice in the theaters. The first time through, I had some issues with the differences between the books and the movie, and the fact that there is a hokiness, for lack of a better word, present in some of the scenes. But that’s why I wanted to see it again and the second time through it was much more enjoyable and cast is a lot of fun! They couldn’t have picked a better Edward!
Becky’s Review: 4 out of 5- I am a big twilight fan and enjoyed this movie. There were some extremely cheesy/funny parts but it was a low budget film...what can you expect?

He’s Just Not That In to You:
Ashley’s Review: wish I hadn’t seen it-Yuck, Bad, Boring, Too much skin! There’s so many A-list celebs in this flick including Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connolly, Bradley Cooper, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson, Justin Long, and Ben Affleck. We just assumed it would be great! Wrongo! Skip it!
Becky’s Review: 1 out of 5- It is too bad that had to put the scandalous parts in this movie. They could have made it good! Waste of money, would not even recommend renting it!

So what did all of you think of these movies (if you saw them)?

Meet Becky

I grew up in cute little town in northern Arizona called Snowflake. Growing up I liked staying active by playing sports and I was always trying to think of anything to do to be entertained. That was sometimes hard to do in a town that had 1 grocery store & no stop lights:) All that being said I absolutely loved it!

After high school I met the love of my life, Rick on a blind date. The first thing I noticed about him was his bright blue eyes and gorgeous smile. We hit it off right away and I found myself laughing all the time. I feel so lucky to be married to my best friend, that is a hard worker, funny, and super hot:) Every day I fall more and more in love with him!

I loved playing sports in high school and college, and was very competitive. To this day I am still competitive.  I enjoy playing volleyball, softball, swimming, running, going to the gym and I love doing triathlons. I love the sense of accomplishment after a triathlon or a race (LOVE RAGNAR...run, drive, sleep? Repeat!!)!  I also enjoy reading (if I have some down time!), hiking and camping.

About 5 years later our first little miracle was born. Then after a few months we found out we had another little boy on the way! I was thrilled...and lets be honest a little scared. They are 11 months apart and they keep me on my toes! They can be angels and sometimes monsters.  Being their mom is such a joy and privilege.  A couple years later our little princess was born! I LOVE having a girl...she is the sweetest little girl you will ever meet!  The boys adore her and she is always the center of attention in our home.

During those years without kids we were able to travel a lot.  Even now with kids we love seeing new places, especially if it is hot and tropical:) There are so many beautiful places in the world! I developed a love for snorkeling, surfing and.....baseball games! Rick has a passion for baseball. It is his goal to see all the baseball stadiums. So far we have been to 18, only 12 to go! I love every second of it:)!
I also stay busy doing service for our church.  We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, also known as Mormons.  I have been able to gain a lot of great experiences from serving others. Thanks for reading a little bit about me and I hope you look forward to finding out more! ~Becky

About Ashley

I was born in Utah in 1983, the third girl in a row, needless to say my parents had one more child, a boy. We moved to Arizona when I was very young so I would consider myself an Arizona native. I have a love/hate relationship with the heat! I filled the "middle child, peace maker" spot in my family. Along with that came drawing pictures of princesses, dancing ballet, singing all day, and talking to myself. To this day, I still have my head in the clouds.

I went to high school in Mesa, Arizona the kind of place where every student is uber-talented and there's no shortage of competition on every level. I fit right in with the choir nerds and seminary kids. I went to college in St. George Utah at Dixie College where 4 wheeling, hiking and big hair was second nature to everyone.

It was there that I met my future husband Joseph (we all call him Joe) at a Karaoke party at my dorm with my cool Karaoke box singing to the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. He separated himself from the crowd by being irresistibly sweet, and also driving me wherever I needed to go (I didn't have my own car till after I was married). We became best friends and one day he surprised me by taking me to Las Vegas and proposing to me during an amazing water show in front of the Bellagio hotel, I melted on the spot!

3 years after we were married, our little bundle of joy Ethan came into our lives. He was saying words like ‘helicopter’ and ‘basketball’ before he turned one, and we realized we have an Einstein in our family (well not really, but every mom likes to think so right?). Daddy calls him ‘champ’ and he lives up to the name. It’s safe to say he gets spoiled around our house. He’s 4 now, and I started my crash course in web design right after he was born and to this day, I don’t know how I survive doing so many things at once. In December 2009 we welcomed our Princess Ivy to the family. She's such a joy to have in our home!

I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (or Mormon as you may better relate to-for more info on what that means you can visit Mormon.org) and that has a huge influence on who I am and the type of designs I create.

My life isn’t really THAT exciting considering that I spend most of my time in front of the glow of a computer screen, but keep checking back, and I’ll give you some more insight as to who I am. Thanks for reading!
